East West College of Natural Medicine
Mission Statement

The purpose of the East West College of Natural Medicine is to provide a Master's-level education, primarily in acupuncture and Oriental medicine, with adjunctive training in other CAM therapies and integrative Western medical sciences. This education is specifically designed to prepare tudents to meet the certification and licensure requirements of the National Commission for Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and the Florida State Board of Acupuncture, respectively. East West also prepares its students to enter the field of Chinese medicine with competency as licensed primary health care providers. In addition, the purpose of the East West College of Natural Medicine is to support the professional development of its graduates and other professionals by offering advanced studies at the postgraduate level.

History

The East West College of Natural Medicine was established in 1994, and originally known as the Academy of Chinese Healing Arts. The school changed its name to the East West College of Natural Medicine in 2002. Its degree program was granted candidate status by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in November 1997, accredited in 1999, and reaccredited in 2004.

Programs Offered

East West College of Natural Medicine offers a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree. The components of this 2,854 hour program are divided into the following categories and hours: 942 hours of Oriental medicine and acupuncture theories, principles and techniques; 503 hours of Western biomedical sciences; 420 hours of Chinese herbology;104 hours of practice management and licensure courses; 90 hours of alternative therapies; and 795 hours of clinical sciences and clinical herbal applications

Upon completion of the program, graduates will:

Postgraduates and other professionals, who so choose, will be trained in advanced AOM studies provided through special courses and seminars.
