The master's degree programs at NESA offer students a variety of choices in pursuing specific areas of interest.

All students complete a comprehensive core curriculum providing theoretical and practical training in traditional Chinese medicine with a focus on acupuncture, as well as a grounding in Western sciences and biomedicine, nutrition, Oriental body massage, and research. Additionally, students complete a concentration, either in Chinese and Japanese acupuncture, or in Oriental medicine.

The acupuncture concentration focuses primarily on traditional and modern influences on acupuncture diagnosis and treatment in Japan. Full-time students with an acupuncture concentration complete program requirements for graduation in 33 months.

Students in the Oriental medicine concentration receive extensive training in the use of traditional Chinese herbal pharmacopoeia, formulations and prescriptions. Internal medicine courses enable students to apply this knowledge to specific disease conditions.
