Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine & Acupuncture
Mission Statement

The mission of the Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine & Acupuncture is to educate and train students to be healing facilitators in the art, science and philosophy of acupuncture, herbal and Oriental medicine. In accordance with this purpose, the school will strive to prepare students so that they may meet national and professional certification standards prescribed for the practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine.

History

The Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine & Acupuncture is one of the first acupuncture schools in Arizona to be named a candidate or accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Its degree program was granted candidate status by ACAOM in May 2001. In May 2004, its program was fully accredited by ACAOM.

Programs Offered

The Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine & Acupuncture offers a Master of Science in Oriental and a Master of Science in Acupuncture. Degree programs are conducted on a 20-week semester system; a summer intensive session is also available. The Master of Science in Acupuncture program focuses mainly on acupuncture, while the MSOM program incorporates a broader aspect of Oriental medicine, including acupuncture, Chinese herbology, acupressure, tuina, tai chi, qigong and Oriental nutrition.
