Mission Statement

Tri-State College of Acupuncture is devoted to advancing the art and science of acupuncture and integrative medicine by transforming scholars into accomplished practitioners, distinguished educators, and influential leaders.

The Tri-State College of Acupuncture community believes in the following core values, which guide the institution in fulfilling its mission and vision.

History

Established in 1979, Tri-State College of Acupuncture was the first acupuncture school in the New York region, and the third in the United States. Tri-State College of Acupuncture has been at the forefront of the advancement of the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine profession, working with lawmakers and national organizations to enhance the quality of AOM training and encourage public acceptance of these valuable health care modalities. The college’s past and present leadership has been actively engaged in supporting and promoting the profession of Acupuncture nationally. The Colleges founder, Dr. Mark D. Seem, Ph.D. was the first president of the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM), and a founding commissioner of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). The Colleges President, Dr. Dennis Moseman, M.S., D.C., serves as a member of the CCAOM, was a past commissioner for the NCCAOM and served on several national acupuncture task forces for the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).

Located in New York City, Tri-State College of Acupuncture has trained nearly 1000 students in acupuncture, Chinese herbology, and related Oriental medical modalities. The college was accredited by ACCET in 1987 and 1991, became a candidate for ACAOM accreditation in 1991, was accredited by ACAOM in 1993, and reaccredited in 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2014.

Programs Offered

Tri-State College of Acupuncture offers a 3-year Master’s Degree program in Acupuncture and a 4-year Master’s Degree program in Oriental Medicine. The program in Acupuncture offers student’s rigorous hands-on training in three styles of acupuncture, as well as several complementary modalities, and prepares students to practice as independent acupuncture providers. The program in Oriental Medicine combines the program in Acupuncture with training in traditional Chinese herbal medicine.

The college also offers advanced post-Master’s training in Acupuncture Specializations, and continuing education courses throughout the year.
