About UEWM

The University of East-West Medicine has a dynamic mix of faculty members committed to educational excellence. Trained in China and in the United States, our experienced faculty members are well versed in the healing arts holding credentials in both TCM and Western medicine. Classes are taught in Chinese and English. Students learn Chinese Medicine Theory, Acupuncture, Herbology, Tuina Massage, Tai-Chi, essential clinic practice, as well as Western Medicine principles.

Programs Offered

The University of East-West Medicine offers a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MSTCM) degree program and Continuing Education Classes.

The Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine program comprises 2130 hours of didactic instruction and 960 hours of clinical training, for a total of 3090 hours (174 units). The university operates year-round on a trimester system with rolling admissions. The curriculum is arranged sequentially such that information learned in one trimester is fundamental to the information in courses of the following trimester. The courses are designed to present TCM theory, acupuncture, Chinese herbology, and Western clinical science in conjunction with each other to provide a more comprehensive understanding of Chinese medicine. Graduates of the Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine are eligible to sit for the California Acupuncture Board License Exam (CALE) and the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) Certification Exam to become a licensed acupuncturist. Students may enroll at UEWM on a part-time basis if financial burdens or other responsibilities prevent full-time study. Part-time students must be available to attend classes on the schedule but will have a lighter course load. In all cases, the course of study must be completed within six years of entry into the program. Financial Aid is available for eligible students.

The University of East-West Medicine also offers a comprehensive set of California Acupuncture Board-approved Continuing Education Classes (CEU) and NCCAOM approved Professional Development Activities class (PDA) and general public classes (EE) in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Integrative Medicine, and health practices. We bring in world-class speakers from abroad, the United States, and locally to teach in person and online courses.
